PROCUREMENT MANAGER Our client, a well-known retail and manufacturing company, is currently seeking an experienced Procurement Manager. The successful applicant will administer the procurement of materials, products, and services necessary for successful operations. They will also be responsible for negotiating and managing all supplier contracts, arrangements and relationships that support the company?s internal requirements with a particular focus on reductions in cost, lead time and inventory and cost while maintaining quality performance. Expected Outcomes There is a focus on providing added value to the organization which significantly contributes to the company?s competitive position in the marketplace.There are collaborative working relationships with suppliers based on mutual success.There will be a coordinated purchasing strategy with the goal of leveraging all relevant relationships and ensuring that the company will be positioned to maximize opportunities for growth.All relevant stakeholders including the Management Team and other cross functional departments have timely and accurate info regarding existing relationships with suppliers, opportunities with potential suppliers, market knowledge, trends, and insights. Position duties Develop procurement procedures and policies in co-ordination with other departments.Implement sourcing strategies to control the company?s costs and ensure a reliable source of supply.Locate, analyze and develop a supplier base to meet current and future needs.Develop strategies for purchasing by using spend analyses while considering market and geographic considerations, strategic importance, etc.Negotiate contracts for commonly used materials, subcontracts, supplies, services and other as required to achieve targeted cost reductions and deliveries.Direct the RFP process for the company.Present recommendations on vendor selection, negotiations, bids, and purchase contracts.Manage farm-out business to ensure gap and emergency services are available when required.Create and maintain mutually beneficial longterm partnerships with suppliers to foster feedback and continuous improvement.Manage and optimize supplier performance through supplier review meetings by focusing on performance metrics, continuous improvement, innovations, and reduction in total costs of ownership.Negotiate with freight service providers ? both inbound and outbound.Standardize and implement a purchasing plan for capital acquisitions that might include spare parts, service, training, and support.Deliver presentations to Leadership Team and other key constituencies outlining a regular environmental scan of the marketplace and purchasing initiatives within the organization. Job Requirements Min ten years background in Purchasing, showing progression through various seniority levels.Bachelor of Business, Commerce or Materials Management.A self-starter with strong negotiations skills.Purchasing designation is preferred.In-depth background in material planning and procurement; inventory control and management, logistics and contract negotiations.Results-oriented with a strong performance, cost management and bottom-line orientation.Good oral and written correspondence skills.Background with computerized systems and processes.
