Handyman's Opportunity:
Black 2004 Mazda 5-Door, standard 5 speed manual transmission with Sport GS package, 113,000 km, 2.3L 4 cylinder engine. Loaded except for sunroof or power seats. Car has: seating for 5, all with seatbelts; air conditioning, power mirrors, power windows, automatic interior light controls, automatic headlight operation, fog lights, keyless entry with panic button, automatic wiper control, cruise with controls on steering wheel, antilock brakes, genuine Mazda summer and winter floor mats, low profile tires used for less than 500 km, new battery 3 months ago with 3-year warranty, aluminum alloy wheels. Really peppy with amazing cornering, handling and maneuverability.
The sound system is another story, bought in 2010. It is a powerful JVC aftermarket unit with CD, front and rear iPod jacks, USB port which charges the device attached, and Bluetooth. There is an equalizer built in with unlimited adjustment options. The colors of the display are adjustable to any color imaginable, either all one, or separate colors for 2 different zones. Door speakers are infinity 4x6. There is also a 150 Watt amplifier attached to a 300 Watt Subwoofer. There is a lot of value just in this system.
There are issues with the vehicle which allows for an attractive price. Repairs needed include: entire power steering column, most expensive repair ($550.00). Also: brakes are all good but there is a rupture somewhere in the system and it can't hold fluid which is why it can't be driven. Front spoiler cracked. There is some rust, mostly on the surface. The floor needs to be welded for reinforcement, needs one ball joint, right front rotor, not certain about the muffler. Previous estimates are about 1,000.00 for the mechanical and about $800.00 for the floor. This obviously could be much lower for a handyman mechanic or a do it yourself person.
I am asking $1,500, negotiable in the case of a mechanic or anyone who may have his own cost estimates in mind after looking at the car. The owner is disabled and cannot afford the repairs and badly needs to sell. So the car is being sold "as is." The average online price is close to the black book value which is $3,600.00.
