Chartered Accountant Summary Our client is a public accounting firm that is responsible for auditing the clients financial plans and policies, accounting practices, the conduct of its relationships with lending institutions and the financial community, the maintenance of its fiscal records, advising on tax matters and their financial reports. This position involves consulting and review over general accounting, property accounting, internal auditing, cost accounting, and budgetary controls. The ideal candidate will have a passion for their clients as well as their accounting needs. Job Duties Auditing of books of account (including but not limited to preparing checks, coding and posting invoices, preparing deposits, journal entries, reconciliations, petty cash)Liaise with management staff and advise on cost management, cost control measures and the cost effectiveness of their program areasProvide support for clients with banking institutions, and various financial stakeholders.Maintain year-end working papers and spreadsheets, and assist with preparation for any audits or CRA return/audit functionsReview monthly client records and advise accordinglyAdvise and implement policy and procedure documentation for complex financial and accounting issuesMaintain current knowledge of regulatory changes and impacts on the various clients? organizationAdvise techs and Junior accountants on accurate and complete trail of supporting documentation for all financial and bookkeeping activitiesProvide forensic accounting services as necessaryDevelopment, analysis, and interpretation of statistical and accounting information in order to appraise operating results in terms of profitability, performance against budget, and other matters bearing on the fiscal soundness and operating effectiveness.Responsible for evaluating and mentoring the performance of Junior accountants. This individual recommends training requirements, has the duty to keep the staff at the highest level of skill necessary to meet the firms needs and objectives.Works with the senior partners and establishes objectives and policies for the company and prepares reports that outline the company's financial position in the areas of income, expenses, and earnings based on past, present, and future operations.Is responsible for tax planning and compliance for all clients with Federal, Provincial and local corporate, payroll, and other applicable taxes.Furnishes clients l reports, revises and updates reports to be more useful and efficient, and furnishes external reports as necessary.Determines depreciation rates to apply to capitalized items and advises management on desirable operational adjustments due to tax revisions.Evaluates and recommends insurance coverage for protection against property losses and potential liabilities. Requirements Minimum Bachelor?s degree in accounting, finance or related field requiredCA designation is required5+ years of experience in financial managementExperience in auditing and tax law.Excellent computer skillsExcellent communication skills both verbal and writtenGeneral understanding of computerized accounting systemsExcellent working knowledge of MS Word, Quick-books and ExcelSome travel to different parts of the island is required.
